Practising gratitude, forgiveness and togetherness is part and parcel of everyday spirituality. Now that the old year is coming to a close and a new one will be upon us in less than thirty days, let's take time to look back on all our experiences - both good and bad and be thankful for them.
To forgive is indeed the best form of self-interest since anger, resentment, and revenge are corrosive of that "summum bonum", the greatest good. Bishop Desmond Tutu
Our experiences have made us richer beyond imagining. You may have thought that you couldn't or wouldn't survive 2009; ahh, but you have. Isn't life wonderful!
Year-end is the only time when some families get together. And family doesn't necessarily mean blood relatives. A family is a group of people with whom we choose to be and share.
Call it a clan, call it a network, call it a tribe, call it a family: Whatever you call it, whoever you are, you need one. Jane Howard
Those who have carried us through the fiery storms of life's challenges; helped us over the humps, barriers, road blocks and sinkholes in the road; those who have stood by us through thick and thin; who have supported us against all odds. That is family.
Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos into order, confusion into clarity... It turns problems into gifts, failures into success, the unexpected into perfect timing, and mistakes into important events. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today and creates a vision for tomorrow. Melodie Beattie
So in the spirit of love and shared get-togethers, here are my offerings to celebrate life and hope and goodness in the world. In spite of everything that's being said out there, the future is very bright. Let your light shine bright.
Happiness is having a large, loving, caring, close-knit family in another city. George Burns

Tapping into Gratitude
Forgiveness and gratitude are essential components in everyday spirituality.
Let us rise up and be thankful, for if we didn't learn a lot today, at least we learned a little, and if we didn't learn a little, at least we didn't get sick, and if we got sick, at least we didn't die; so let us all be thankful. Buddha
